Gun store Do and Don’t

07/09/2024

Dos

1. Do Follow Safety Rules: Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, and treat every firearm as if it’s loaded.
2. Do Ask Questions: If you’re unsure about something, ask the staff for help. They are there to assist you.
3. Do Handle Firearms Properly: When handed a firearm, check to ensure it’s unloaded, even if the staff just did. Always handle with care.
4. Do Know Your Needs: Have a clear idea of what you’re looking for and your intended use for the firearm, whether it’s for self-defense, hunting, or sport shooting.
5. Do Bring Proper Documentation: Have your identification and any necessary permits or licenses ready.
6. Do Respect Store Policies: Follow any rules or guidelines set by the store, including handling procedures and payment methods.
7. Do Be Patient: Gun store staff can be busy, especially during peak times. Wait your turn and be patient with the process.

Don’ts

1. Don’t Point Firearms at People: Never point a gun at someone, even if it’s unloaded. Always treat it as if it could be dangerous.
2. Don’t Joke About Violence: Avoid making any jokes or comments about using firearms inappropriately.
3. Don’t Ignore Staff Instructions: Always listen to and follow the directions given by the store staff.
4. Don’t Handle Guns Without Permission: Wait for a staff member to hand you a firearm before picking it up, and don’t touch anything without asking.
5. Don’t Be Impatient or Pushy: Avoid rushing the staff or other customers. Everyone deserves the same level of attention and service.
6. Don’t Misrepresent Yourself: Be honest about your experience level and intended use for the firearm. Don’t pretend to know more than you do.
7. Don’t Discuss Illegal Activities: Never mention or imply that you intend to use a firearm for illegal purposes.
8. Don’t Be Disrespectful: Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor with both staff and other customers.
9. Don’t Display your Conceal Carry: Conceal means out of sight.

Following these guidelines will help ensure a safe, respectful, and positive experience at the gun store.
